Breathing meditation is the foundation of all mindfulness practices, including mindful eating.
Breathing meditation is probably the most simple meditation in the world. But this doesn’t mean that it’s easy. In breathing meditation you simply focus your awareness on your breathing. And because the breath in itself is quite boring to observe this makes it the perfect meditation object for basic awareness training. That is training your ability to notice when your awareness has wandered away from your choice of awareness and then pull it back to where you want it to be. Again and again while you go deeper and deeper in to concentration and relaxation. Or while you become more and more frustrated with how difficult this simple task actually is.
